Wang Makes History With Taiwan's First Asian Games Swimming Gold

Taiwan's Wang Kuan-hung made history on Friday by securing the country's first-ever Asian Games gold medal in swimming by clinching the men’s 200-meter butterfly. The win capped an action-packed day for Taiwan, with bronze medals in weightlifting for Chen Guan-ling and Olympic champion Kuo Hsing-chun, as well as a bronze for the women’s kabaddi team.

Taiwan has made history at the Asian Games in Japan, with Wang Kuan-hung claiming the country's first-ever gold in swimming at the Games on Friday.

Wang’s win in the men’s 200-meter butterfly followed two bronze medals for Taiwan's weightlifters earlier in the day. In the women’s 57-kilogram division, Chen Guan-ling edged out Vietnam’s Quang Thi Tam for third place. Olympic gold medalist Kuo Hsing-chun also took bronze in the women’s 61-kilogram division.
