Record Number of Older Adults in Taiwan Now Living Alone
Taiwan has hit a new record for older adults living alone. Interior ministry figures show that as of March, households with a single resident aged 65 or older topped 713,000, with most concentrated in Taipei, New Taipei and Kaohsiung. Households with two or more older residents also reached record highs. The trend reflects a broader shift as Taiwan's now super-aged society sees more elderly people living apart from family.
