Teachers Call for Government to Scrap Bilingual Policy

Teachers are petitioning the government to scrap plans to promote English in schools with an aim to make Taiwan bilingual. Critics of the plan say it will harm students’ performance at school, and take resources from Taiwan’s own languages. But officials say building a bilingual society is key to Taiwan’s future.
