Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment and the Japan Environment Association have finalized a mutual recognition framework to simplify eco-label certifications for Taiwanese electronics exported to Japan. The deal directly aligns assessment standards for personal computers and imaging equipment, benefiting Taiwanese tech exporters who ship over US$400 million worth of hardware to Japan each year. Additionally, Taiwan has engaged with the US-based Global Electronics Council, owner of the widely recognized EPEAT green standard, enabling direct consultation on supply chain transparency. Officials note that international eco-labeling recognition will help Taiwanese manufacturers capture growing green procurement budgets from major global institutions.
