Apart from Biden’s three openly supportive remarks for Taiwan in 2022, the U.S. President also rallied support for Taiwan’s WHA participation last May. Amid rising U.S.-China tensions, Taiwan has pushed for the sixth consecutive time to regain its seat at the WHA. Although lacking official observer status, every year, the country wins increasing support from allies around the world. This year, Taiwan racked up support from 88 countries. In addition to the official delegation, Taiwan also sends a "Shidaotuan," a parliament-led delegation comprised of legislators who effectively and efficiently lobby for Taiwan’s support across the board in circumventing difficulties an official government delegation face. In this episode, Legislator Lin Ching-yi, who led the delegation to Geneva, shares with us the renewed support Taiwan has received and the untold stories on the ground there. Alongside Legislator Lin is Professor Albert Chiu, a foreign affairs expert at Tunghai University as he analyzes the U.S.-China conflict and China’s latest moves!
