July 1 marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover and two full years since the Chinese government imposed a wide-ranging national security law on Hong Kong. In seeking a third term, Xi Jinping made a high-profile visit to Hong Kong in celebrating the handover. He hailed 'one country, two systems' is here to stay. Although since the implementation of National Security Law and Anti-Extradition Protests in Hong Kong, tens of thousands of the city’s residents are flocking to other countries. Once a popular destination for Taiwanese students in pursuing higher education, many have witnessed how “Asia’s world city” has changed. In this episode, Nathan Law, former Hong Kong legislator and democracy activist and Hong Kong University Graduate, and Hong Kong Outlanders Chair Chiang Min-yen discusses Hong Kong’s tumultuous two years under the National Security Law and the implications on neighboring Taiwan.
