The National Symphony Youth Orchestra (NSYO), founded in 2023, aims to cultivate outstanding young Taiwanese musicians and to serve as a cultural ambassador for Taiwan. In the summer of 2024, Music Director Jun Märkl conducted the NSYO to present a program featuring Gabriela Lena Frank’s Concertino Cusqueño, Manuel de Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat Suite No.2, and Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto Op.14, performed in collaboration with world-renowned violinist Richard Lin. For the finale, NSYO performed Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol, Op.34. NSYO’s international tour to Singapore and Thailand also included concerts in cities across Taiwan: Taipei, Miaoli, and Kaohsiung.
