Previously employed as a secondary school visual arts teacher in Hong Kong, vawongsir was dismissed by the school the day before the implementation of the National Security Law due to creating comics on political and social issues. The Education Bureau also deemed him unfit for the profession. Fearing arrest and unable to find peace, he had to leave Hong Kong in 2022. After arriving in Taiwan, he remained committed to his passion for education and art, hoping that his artworks could bring about change in the world. ————————————————————————————— "After That: Hongkongers in Taiwan" 【This is what happens to me AFTER THAT...】 July 1st, 2023 marks the third year since the enactment of National Security Law in Hong Kong, as well the day Anti-Espionage Law Amendment in China takes effect. From 2014 to 2019, democratic wildfire sprawled across Hong Kong in the form of various protests, yet was eventually snuffed out by Chinese apparatuses, leaving repercussions on local political geography. Through stories of Hong Kongers in Taiwan, this TaiwanPlus original documentary series examines the ramifications of aforementioned events and explores the new lives Hong Kongers found in their new home.
