US Expands Ban on Chinese Communications Equipment
The United States has expanded restrictions on Chinese-made communications equipment, widening an FCC ban that was first introduced in 2022. Earlier this week, China continued its export limits on rare earth minerals and added 10 US companies to its export control list.

On Friday the US announced it would ban the import of Chinese-made communications equipment.
The Federal Communications Commission expanded an earlier ban list from 2022 citing national security concerns. The updated list targets technology from several Chinese firms including Huawei and ZTE. This expanded ban now includes communication products designed prior to 2022 — although Americans are allowed to continue using equipment they already own. The move comes as China continues to impose export controls on rare earth minerals, adding 10 US firms to an export control list.
