Taiwan Scores Highly on Freedom Index as Global Democracy Struggles
Global freedom has declined for a 20th year, according to the latest Freedom in the World rankings from NGO Freedom House. Taiwan scored 93 in 2025, down one point from last year, but it remains a free country and second in Asia for civil liberties and political rights behind Japan.
