Tibetan, Uyghur, Hong Kong and Chinese dissident groups gathered in London on China’s National Day to protest Beijing’s repression and its Ethnic Unity Law, which took effect in July. Demonstrators said the law threatens ethnic identities and could enable transnational repression overseas. Protesters also voiced concerns over Beijing’s planned new embassy at Royal Mint Court. Earlier, Hong Kongers rallied outside the British Home Office over reported rejections of British National Overseas visa applications linked to protest-related convictions. Similar demonstrations took place in Manchester, Toronto and Vancouver, calling on governments to respond to Chinese repression at home and abroad.
