The European Parliament has passed resolutions calling for action against authorities in Hong Kong, Cuba and Zambia, accusing them of human rights violations. Lawmakers passed a resolution urging sanctions on Hong Kong officials involved in enforcing Beijing-imposed national security laws, saying the measures have restricted free speech, media freedom and the right to assemble. The parliament says more than 400 people have been arrested and nearly 200 convicted in Hong Kong since June. It is also calling for charges against activists and booksellers to be dropped. Separate resolutions condemned political repression in Cuba and Zambia.
