Fresh China-Philippines Clash
REPORTER:
China and the Philippines have clashed once again in a disputed part of the South China Sea.
A Chinese coast guard vessel shot a water cannon at a Philippine government fishing vessel near the contested Scarborough Shoal. The Philippines says China violated collision-prevention rules, while China says the Philippine side took provocative actions and infringed on its waters.
The confrontation comes after a violent skirmish near another shoal on Monday. The two sides summoned each other's ambassadors at the time, but their foreign ministers later met in Manila on Wednesday.
