Several US lawmakers are visiting Taiwan this week in the first congressional visits since US President Donald Trump met Chinese leader Xi Jinping in September. Senator Michael Bennet, a member of the US Senate Taiwan Caucus, is in Taiwan through Wednesday, while a separate House delegation led by Representative Brendan Boyle will remain through Saturday. The lawmakers are scheduled to meet senior Taiwanese officials to discuss economic cooperation, artificial intelligence and regional security. The House delegation is also set to meet President Lai Ching-te. Taiwan's foreign ministry says the visits ahead of National Day celebrations on Saturday underscore continued US support.
