Analysis: If the US Stations Defense Officials in Taiwan

Media reports in Taiwan say two US defense officials could be stationed with Taiwan’s defense ministry to help with policy coordination and assessments of combat capabilities. This would be a more direct and official placement than the existing arrangements involving American advisers coordinated by the American Institute in Taiwan, the de facto US embassy.
