Taiwan Lawmakers Meet with US Officials to Discuss Bilateral Ties

A group of lawmakers led by Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu has met with US defense and White House officials during a visit to Washington DC.
According to Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Kuo Yu-ching, the two sides discussed US-Taiwan relations and regional security. Kuo said the US officials reaffirmed that Washington’s policy toward Taiwan remains unchanged and that it will continue to support Taiwan’s self-defense capabilities. The meetings come as Taiwan is still waiting for US approval of a major arms deal.

A cross-party delegation of Taiwanese lawmakers led by Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu has met with US defense and White House officials in Washington DC.
Lawmaker Jean Kuo shared on Facebook that the US’s policy toward Taiwan is unchanged and it continues to support Taiwan’s self-defense capabilities. The group also met with the Heritage Foundation think tank, before hosting a banquet for overseas Taiwanese.
