Direct Flights Between Washington, DC and Taipei Set To Begin

Direct flights between Taipei and Washington, DC are set to begin on Friday. AIT Director Raymond Greene says it marks a milestone in US-Taiwan ties. Tourism, travel and government officials gathered in Taipei to celebrate the launch, saying the route will boost tourism, business and investment.

Beginning Friday, travelers can fly directly between Taipei and the Washington DC metropolitan area. The US’s top diplomat in Taiwan says it’s an important signal for bilateral ties.

Thanks to years of joint effort, we can finally fly directly from Taipei to DC, an unprecedented milestone highlighting the growing connection between the US and Taiwan.

The direct flight, on EVA Air, will fly between Taoyuan International Airport and the Washington Dulles International Airport. Planning for the route began in 2024. Tourism, travel and government representatives gathered in Taipei to celebrate its launch, saying the flight will support tourism, business exchanges, and investment. They say it will also bring in revenue.

For the national capital region, this nonstop service, is expected to produce over 50 million dollars in local economic impact every single year.

Operators say the flight can save travelers seven to eight hours of travel time.
