Main opposition Kuomintang Chair Cheng Li-wun says she has requested a meeting with US President Donald Trump during a planned visit to the United States in June. Cheng said such a meeting could help promote peace, but acknowledged it may be difficult to arrange. She also urged Trump to oppose Taiwanese independence, which would mark a shift from the longstanding US policy of not supporting Taiwanese independence.
