President Lai Pushes Defense Spending on Anniversary of Taiwan Relations Act
On April 10, 1979 the United States passed the Taiwan Relations Act as a way to maintain ties with Taiwan, despite officially recognizing the People's Republic of China. Now, 47 years later, the US is Taiwan's most important unofficial ally, amid growing tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
