Chinese Spouses Celebrate Mother's Day, Gov’t Addresses Discrimination

Chinese women married to Taiwanese citizens were invited to an early Mother's Day celebration hosted by the Mainland Affairs Council and Straits Exchange Foundation. At the event, they shared their experiences of immigrating to Taiwan, and the struggles they have faced in obtaining residency and permission to visit their relatives in China. The Mainland Affairs Council also addressed the tightening rules on cross-strait exchanges, and promised to help fight discrimination against the Chinese spouses.
