Government Increases Monthly Fuel Subsidies for Taxi Drivers

Taiwan’s Cabinet has raised monthly fuel subsidies for taxi drivers to a maximum of around US$475 to help cushion the economic shock of the ongoing war in Iran. Premier Cho Jung-tai announced the expanded support measures on Monday. He said that despite rising oil prices, Taiwan maintains lower fuel costs than its neighbors and has ample reserves of oil and natural gas.
