Taiwan is now a super-aged society, meaning over 20% of the population is aged 65 or older. At least 350,000 of these seniors live with dementia, meaning more people are prone to getting lost than ever before, requiring specialized help from mantrailing dogs. Unlike search-and-rescue dogs who search through debris, these canines follow people's scent trails – whether looking for lost seniors in urban areas or for people lost in the mountains.
