This week on Game On Taiwan, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of Taiwan’s athletes.Table tennis stars Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching captured their first international title in three years, winning mixed doubles at the WTT Star Contender London 2025. Meanwhile, Feng Yi-hsin and Kuo Kuan-hung struck gold in men’s doubles. Back home, the Rakuten Monkeys made history — clinching the Taiwan Series title under manager Furukubo Kenji. They became the first team in the CPBL’s new playoff format to defeat both half-season champions en route to the championship. Pedro Fernández earned Series MVP honors, while Lin Hung-yu’s clutch two-run homer in Game 5 sealed the win and earned him Game MVP. At the National Games, Taiwan’s boxers dominated — with Lin Yu-ting, Huang Hsiao-wen, Wu Shih-yi, and Chen Nien-chin all taking gold. In swimming, Han An-chi and Wang Kuan-hung broke national records, and Huang Mei-chien capped her career with a final gold. Track and field standouts Chiang Ching-yuan, Lo Pei-lin, and Liao Yen-chun also delivered memorable performances. Golf star Tseng Ya-ni ended an 11-year title drought with victory at the TLPGA Wistron Open.
