How did Taiwan’s indie music grow into a cultural phenomenon? Meet indie band legends WonFu’s Xiao-Min and Sodagreen’s Jia-Kai as they sit down with Musa to talk about their journeys as guitarists and their experiences in the indie music scene. WonFu was founded in 1998 by Hsiao-Min and his friends during their university years. Their quirky, playful style and versatile sounds soon won over audiences, taking them from major festival stages across Asia to international tours in the United States and Canada. Meanwhile, fresh from their 2024-2025 world tour, Sodagreen has captivated music lovers for more than two decades. Known for their distinctive melodies and poetic lyrics, the indie pop-rock sextet has become a dominant presence in Taiwan’s mainstream music scene while continuing to experiment with new ideas, among them a collaboration with the GermanPops Orchestra. With their experience in Golden Melody Award-winning bands, the two guitarists are here to share how they first learned the instrument, the past and present of the indie music community, and their mindsets as musicians. Follow them behind the scenes as they recount how a generation of musicians turned underground gigs into a major musical movement. And don’t miss out on Hsiao-Min and Musa’s jazz rendition of one of Wonfu’s hit songs! “Musa’s Musical Melting Pot” is a podcast series where Musa, or Martin Musaubach, invites musicians from a diverse background to sit down and talk music. Drop in for unexpected perspectives and a brand-new way of understanding music.
