Yunlin County is part of Taiwan’s agricultural heartland with some of the top local products ranging from pomelo and coffee to fish such as Taiwan tilapia and clams. In this episode, Kevin tries out a range of local delicacies including frog soup (it’s not just the French!), shaved ice and some special cocktails made with local produce. Plus, Kevin tries a truly local pastime – clam digging. Besides tons of good food, Yunlin is home to some interesting experiences. Kevin explores Chaotian Temple, a spectacular example of Buddhist architecture dedicated to the goddess Mazu. Kevin also takes a trip to Yunlin’s Hand Puppet Museum, where he learns all about the history of hand puppets (aka glove puppets) in Taiwan and even gets to make his own!
