LNY Family Recipe: Fried Cabbage Balls and Vegetable Tempura - CA, U.S.
Kris Lu has lived in Qatar for 8 years prior to relocating to Los Angeles which has been her home for 6 years. Her family's tradition since childhood is to have an all-vegetarian breakfast as the entire family prays for good luck on the first day of the Lunar New Year. This recipe of fried cabbage balls is a hybrid of an old-Taiwanese taste fused with Japanese elements from tempura. Kris and her daughter also reminisce about family traditions as they welcome the upcoming Year of the Tiger.
