Tsai Cheng-yen is a social worker from Hong Kong who came to his mother’s homeland Taiwan to pursue an undergraduate degree. With disturbing events that continue to unravel in his native land, he closely follows the democracy movement of his hometown while taking care of indigenous children deep in the villages of Kaohsiung’s Taoyuan Mountain. As his father passed when he was very young, so Tsai knows what it feels like to be alone and understands the value of the company in the eyes of children.
