Agent NIO was sent to investigate a catholic church in Cihtong, Yunlin that allows the use of Taiwanese incense. Starting his journey at Shuzijiao Embankment, NIO met an old lady who peels garlic and an artisan who makes drums by hand. With their guidance, NIO discovered the church he had been looking for—St. Joseph Church. Inside the church, NIO was astonished to see its unique blend of Chinese-Western designs, as well as an incense arrangement ceremony typically found in Taiwanese temples. The priest explained that these designs are all ways of respecting the local culture. Grateful for the help he received along the way, NIO lit an incense and prayed for the health of all hard-working people in Taiwan!
