Li Tang had a great influence on Song dynasty-era painting. His paintings provide a more "intimate" perspective than other landscape painters of the time. While portrayed differently than previous landscape paintings, Li Tang succeeded in providing depth through the detailed portrayal of the scenes, such as the rocks or waterfalls, giving the painting vibrant energy.
