Putin's annexation of parts of Ukraine has pushed Kyiv into the arms of NATO. The United States also issued new wide-raging sanctions against Russia after the country’s president, Vladimir Putin, announced it would be annexing 15% of Ukraine—the largest annexation in Europe since World War II.
