World Records Hottest Day Ever on Monday

Data from the U.S. National Centers for Environmental Prediction show the global average temperature rising over 17 degrees Celsius on Monday, almost 0.1 degrees higher than the last hottest day on record in August 2016. Scientists say the climate crisis, combined with an emerging El Niño effect, are to blame and that even hotter temperatures are likely this year.
