'Unfair Vilification': Teodoro Defends Japan, Calls China Hypocritical, Deceptive
Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro used the Shangri-La Dialogue to defend Japan against Chinese accusations of “new militarism." He also called out Beijing's hypocrisy and gray-zone tactics in the South China Sea, while advocating for closer cooperation among Indo-Pacific partners. His remarks came as Japanese Defense Minister Koizumi Shinjiro outlined Tokyo’s vision of trust, transparency and deeper security ties across the region.
