Full [APEC] member states can attend meetings on an equal basis and make various contributions regardless of where the meeting is set. I don’t think this provision will change.
Hung Sun-han will be the first member of President Lai Ching-te's cabinet to visit China since Lai took office in 2024. Beijing will enact new entry-exit laws this month that may have implications for Taiwan nationals. Hung says he has assessed possible risks with national security agencies, the foreign ministry, and the Mainland Affairs Council— which oversees relations with China. The meeting is scheduled in Nanjing on September 21. The full APEC summit will take place in Shenzhen in November.
