Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage Draws Hundreds of Thousands

Hundreds of thousands of people participating in Taiwan’s Dajia Mazu pilgrimage are coming to the home stretch of the 9-day marathon walk. The festival celebrates the sea goddess Mazu’s birthday. Pilgrims carry her statue over 340 kilometers through central Taiwan. Our reporter James Chater recently visited the route to take a closer look at this uniquely Taiwanese festival.
