China-Taiwan Tensions
US President Joe Biden has spoken directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping about Taiwan. He has also sent his national security adviser to Zurich for talks with Beijing’s top diplomat. Cross-strait tensions have spiked in recent days with China sending a record number of aircraft into Taiwan’s air defense zone. Defense minister Chiu Kuo-cheng is describing the situation as the most serious in 40 years. Rik Glauert reports
