In November 2025, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae said a Chinese naval blockade of Taiwan could constitute a threat to Japan. Beijing responded with travel warnings, banning Japanese imports and initiating a widespread information campaign aimed at Takaichi, Japan and Taiwan. So how far do these influence operations extend—and do they effectively influence public opinion against Japan and Taiwan?
