Fake news is a global problem facing all democracies, and it has the potential to do real harm. Taiwan’s civil groups are working hard to fact-check fake news in real-time. Learn how they tackle this genuine threat to Taiwan’s democracy in this episode of “Broken News.” Taiwan is on the frontline of a disinformation war with China, experiencing thousands of attacks a day. From fake news online to on-the-ground interference, Taiwan’s population has to be vigilant and able to identify fake news when they see it. That’s where civil organizations such as IORG, MyGoPen, Doublethink and others come into play. These groups all work together uniquely to help protect Taiwan from the harms of disinformation.
