‘Once people asked me, “Both of your parents have schizophrenia, and in this case, do you think you can be a teacher?”’ Wen Kuo-shih is a teacher, who is mostly known as Kuo-kuo. Having gone through a difficult childhood and overcome the shadows in his early life, Kuo-kuo devotes himself to education. In the children’s home, he keeps these children from disadvantaged backgrounds company as they grow up. It is a process full of moving tales, joyful laughter and inevitably, tears of misunderstanding. Kuo-kuo tackles the situation bravely; he does so not only for himself but the children who struggle in their lives. ‘It would be good if it raises people’s awareness of these issues’, Kuo-kuo says with a smile on his face as he carries on doing what he has been doing.
