The Spirit Medium: ‘We Save Lives’ - Superstitions Ep3
On the 3rd, 6th and 9th days of each lunar month, the rhythmic pounding of temple drums signals the arrival of the divine. Amidst flickering incense and solemn prayers, A-Yun transforms from an ordinary delivery driver into a revered spirit medium at Shuimen Temple. Channeling the Taoist god Ong Yah, he offers guidance on love, career, health and even life-and-death struggles. For the desperate and the ailing, A-Yun is often their final hope for healing and solace. Yet beyond the temple, A-Yun is a devoted husband and father, quietly balancing his sacred role with the demands of everyday life. The weight of carrying so many people’s fears and prayers can feel overwhelming, leaving him burdened by the identity that others revere. Having witnessed humanity’s rawest pain and contradictions, A-Yun wrestles with an unshakable question: Why must life be so full of suffering, and can gods free us from the pain?
