In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic left no country unscathed. The SARS-CoV-2 virus killed millions and infected hundreds of millions. Waves of infections crashed healthcare systems, and billions of people were told to stay home. Taiwan, however, seemed to live in a parallel universe. Marathons were held and celebrations took place normally. No local infection was recorded for 253 days at the longest. But in May 2021, the novel coronavirus got a foothold, and the bubble burst. In this episode, veteran news anchor Grace Liao and pediatrician/infectious diseases doctor Huang Tsung-ning team up to discover what happened in 2021 and how Taiwan will overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
