During WWII, Taiwan was terribly bombarded as oil-gas resources were the key to winning the war. While drilling wells, the oil field workers had to be prepared to run whenever there was an air raid. In the Zhudong Mine, the Training School for Drilling Technicians was specially founded to actively cultivate drilling talent because Japan was warring with multiple nations at the time and desperately needed trained oil workers to extract the required oil gas and even fight at the frontline.
