In Bangka, you can observe the body language of people you don’t usually run into elsewhere: performers in religious processions, disabled people peddling incense sticks, to name a few. Their body language may not be aesthetically pleasing and can even be awkward at times, but when these motions are strung together with an artist’s vision, they become a fascinating collage — one composed of moments from people’s lives immortalized in a dance piece.
