Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss on 'Taiwan Talks'
Liz Truss is the highest ranking British MP to visit Taiwan since former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Also a former Prime Minister and ex-Foreign Secretary, Truss is currently the Conservative MP for South West Norfolk. She has held other key positions such as Justice Secretary and International Trade Secretary. Following the U.K.'s exit from the European Union and its tilt towards the Indo-Pacific region, Truss played a key role in incorporating Taiwan's security into the U.K.'s international perspective. During her tenure as International Trade Secretary, she was instrumental in the U.K.'s formal application to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). She sits down with Taiwan Talks host Yin Khvat in Taipei during her 5-day visit to Taiwan in May 2023.
