Brazil 'Waging a War' Against Wildfires

Brazil's environment minister, Marina Silva, says her government is "waging a war" againt wildfires. For the past week, forest fires have been spreading across the country’s central-west Pantanal wetlands, northern Amazonian rainforest and populated southeast regions. Meteorologists have forecasted another week of high temperatures, fast winds and low humidity, creating an environment that is conducive to new wildfires. Silva says human activity and deforestation have fueled the spread of the fires.
