Blame the Imperial Exam System and Xi Jinping for China's Woes
Yasheng Huang of MIT's Sloan School is the author of "The Rise and Fall of the EAST," in which he explores the far-reaching impact of the Chinese imperial exam system and the links to today's Chinese Communist Party, Beijing's current economic woes and the centralization of power under Xi Jinping. Huang is also a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center and sat down with Taiwan Talks on a visit to Taiwan in January 2024.
