Vice President Lai Says Beijing to Blame for Cross-Strait Tensions

The frontrunner to be Taiwan's next president, current Vice President Lai Ching-te, has blamed Beijing for current cross-strait tensions. It comes as he prepares for a trip to the Americas later this month. According to an announcement by the Presidential Office, Lai will visit diplomatic ally Paraguay with stopovers in New York and San Francisco bookending his seven-day itinerary.
