Main opposition Kuomintang Chair Cheng Li-wun says several experts supported her views during a recent trip to the US.

Many high-profile scholars, scientists and industry leaders expressed approval and a high degree of support [for my views].

Cheng spoke to the media about her two-week trip to the US on Wednesday. Her visit to the United States included stops in several major cities, including New York and Washington DC. She says the visit was meant to promote peace and to clear up misunderstandings about her party’s stance on China. Cheng’s trip came two months after she travelled to Beijing and met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu of the KMT will also travel to the US next week.
