Asian Development Bank Funding Frozen Over 'Taipei, China' Designation
Taiwan’s legislature has frozen nearly a quarter of the its funding for the Asian Development Bank to protest the bank’s designation of Taiwan as “Taipei, China.” Taiwan is a founding member of the regional lender but its name was changed after China joined the institution in 1986 and the ADB has not responded to Taiwan’s concerns despite annual protests.
