KMT Chair Cheng Li-Wun Op-Ed: Taiwan Doesn't Have to Choose US or China
In an op-ed for Foreign Affairs, Taiwan's main opposition Kuomintang Chair Cheng Li-wun says that Taiwan does not have to choose between the US and China to bring peace to the Indo-Pacific region. Cheng says that Taiwan should focus on its own interests, and reestablish communication channels with China to improve the cross-strait relationship. She says defense spending, highly supported by the US, is not the only way to deter Beijing from war.
