Scholars Warn Of Threats To Taiwan's Freedom of Speech

A group of scholars are warning that Taiwan's freedom of speech has taken a hit in recent months. In an open letter, they call on President Lai Ching-te to respect differing views, citing the case of a Chinese influencer who left Taiwan on March 25 over controversial social media videos seen as promoting military unification of Taiwan and China. The Presidential Office says Lai supports freedom of speech but calling for an invasion of Taiwan crosses the line.
